The Wisconsin football program has built a standout recruiting class in year one under Luke Fickell.

As it stands, UW holds 20 commits in the 2024 cycle, good for the No. 23 class in the nation per 247Sports.

Wisconsin’s offensive line group stands out as one of the strongest groups in the 2024 cycle. The Badgers currently hold five offensive line commits, and two of those prospects received recognition in their state’s preseason All-State teams.

PennLive, a news network based out of Pennsylvania, recently released its preseason All-Pennsylvania teams. UW commits Kevin Heywood and Ryan Cory were among those named to the list.

Heywood, a four-star prospect, is one of the premier recruits in Wisconsin’s 2024 class. The standout from Pope John Paul II High School chose Wisconsin over a long list of offers from some powerhouse schools. Some notable programs to offer Heywood include Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee, and others.

Here’s what PennLive had to say about Heywood.

“The Wisconsin commit is a massive and gifted guy. Heywood is an excellent athlete for his size. He runs well, has good speed and good feet, with long arms and good strength. He absolutely demolishes guys in the run game, and easily holds his own while pass blocking. He’s just dominant.”

Ryan Cory, a composite three-star lineman, joined Wisconsin’s 2024 class on the same day as Heywood. The 6-foot-4, 290-pound lineman is coming off a junior season that saw his Pine-Richland team take home the Pennsylvania state championship. Cory chose Wisconsin over Penn State, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, Oregon, Miami, and others.

Here’s what PennLive had to say about Cory.

“The Wisconsin commit plays for one of the state’s top programs — the Rams are defending 5A champs — with a history of producing top-flight linemen. Cory was one of the top linemen int he state across the past couple seasons and that figures to continue this fall.”

Heywood and Cory are significant additions to UW’s 2024 class, and it’s great to see these kids get some recognition as some of Pennsylvania’s best. There’s still some time before the two linemen make their way to Madison, but they will be worth keeping an eye on as their high school careers come to a close.
