Wisconsin Badgers Football 2023 Predictions: Statistical Leaders
Receptions and Receiving Touchdowns Leader
Tight End Clay Cundiff
After having two consecutive seasons ended by devastating injuries, tight end Clay Cundiff is poised for a breakout season. Before making the trip to Columbus (during which Cundiff suffered his season-ending injury), the Kansas native showcased his ability to replace Jake “Barry Alvarez’ grandson” Ferguson.
The former three-star recruit had the second-most receptions on the team, trailing wide receiver Chimere Dike by just one before UW’s game against Ohio State. The six-foot-three-inch, 236-pound TE was also tied with WR Skyler Bell for the team lead in receiving touchdowns.
Admittedly, this projection rests upon a few assumptions:
- The depth of talent at receiver means quarterback Tanner Mordecai spreads the wealth of targets throughout the room.
- Cundiff becomes the go-to guy in the red zone.
- He stays healthy.
