It wasn’t a fairytale season for the Wisconsin football program, but the Badgers still have plenty to look forward to in the Luke Fickell era, with signs of growth near the end of the season.

Several Badgers have received recognition for their standout play during the 2023 season. Hunter Wohler and Ricardo Hallman were named to the Defense/Special Teams All-Big Ten team, while Braelon Allen, Will Pauling, and Tanor Bortolini received All-Big Ten offensive honors just weeks ago.

The Associated Press recently released their picks for the All-Big Ten teams, and two Badgers were among those named.

Hunter Wohler and Braelon Allen have been named to the AP All-Big Ten teams.

Wohler made AP’s first team after getting snubbed by the Big Ten. The Muskego, Wisconsin native recorded a team-high 113 tackles, four pass breakups, two interceptions, and a sack on the season. His 113 tackles were the most by a Power Five defensive back and the second most among any player in the Big Ten. With the season he had, the Wisconsin football program can only hope Wohler returns for another season, something that he has yet to make a decision on

Allen received second-team All-Big Ten recognition by the Associated Press. The Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin native logged 181 carries for 984 yards and 12 touchdowns on the year. The Badgers will be without their star running back next year, as Allen announced he would enter the NFL Draft a couple of weeks ago. Agent 0 finished his college career with nearly 3,500 rushing yards and 35 touchdowns while averaging 5.9 yards per carry in three seasons.

It was a tumultuous year for the Wisconsin football program in year one under Luke Fickell, but it’s nice to see some of the Badgers biggest standouts get the recognition they deserve.
