The NCAA bowl games have been released and Wisconsin Football has found out their draw. The Badgers will take on No. 13 LSU in the ReliaQuest Bowl on New Years Day in Tampa. It will be an 11 AM CST kick-off.

While the game is still four weeks away, here are my initial thoughts on the game and the match-up.

Will Jayden Daniels Play in this Game?

I have a hard believing LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels will play in this game. Daniels is a finalist for the Heisman Trophy and will likely declare for the NFL Draft. I think Daniels is the favorite to win the award. He has accumulated for almost 5,000 total yards and 50 touchdowns. He has been fantastic.

Wisconsin football has seen Daniels already. He was the quarterback for Arizona State when Wisconsin beat the Sun Devils in the Las Vegas Bowl in 2021. In that game, Daniels was 11-21 fro 159 yards and one interception. He’s a completly different player now. If Daniels plays, it will be fun to see what he can do.

Wisconsin Football is Getting a Good Opponent

Unless our team is playing in the College Football Playoff or a New Years Six game, your bowl game doesn’t matter a ton unless you’re looking to build your program.

I like that Wisconsin football has a respectable opponent and a good opponent at that. It makes for a good game and an opportunity to see where the Badgers stand before spring ball begins in a few weeks.

New Years Day Bowl Games Are the Best

I always liked watching Wisconsin football play their bowl games on New Years Day.

Everyone is off of work and your team has the attention, especially as one of the first games of the day. It gets hard to watch your team play during the middle of the week, especially if you have to work.

While it’s not the Rose Bowl, the vibes just seem a little different when you are playing on New Years Day. The weather in Tampa should be nice and on the warmer side.

Be on the look out leading up to this game as I and my colleagues at BadgerNotes.com will be breaking this game down!
