Wisconsin Football: 2 Badgers Receive All-Big Ten Defensive Honors
The two most deserving Wisconsin football defensive players received All-Conference honors.
On Tuesday, the Wisconsin football team received word that two Badgers defensive players received All-Big Ten recognition.
The announcement by the Big Ten conference unveiled defensive and special teams accolades and individual honors, recognizing the efforts of select players across the league.
Considering the challenges that the Wisconsin Badgers endured defensively in the first year under Mike Tressel — two seems like the correct number, given the lack of playmakers inherited.
Two Wisconsin Football Players Receive All-Big Ten Honors
In the coaches’ voting, safety Hunter Wohler secured All-Big Ten third-team honors, standing as the sole representative from the Badgers on the list. Cornerback Ricardo Hallman received an honorable mention. Both of these are absolutely insane for different reasons, but I digress.
The media vote better reflected Wohler’s impact, granting him All-Big Ten second-team honors, while Hallman secured a spot on the All-Big Ten third team.

Wohler led the Wisconsin football team with 113 tackles, four pass breakups, two interceptions, and a sack on the season—ranking second in the Big Ten for tackles. Meanwhile, Hallman displayed his ball-hawking ability with a remarkable six interceptions (tied for most in B1G) and five pass breakups exclusively operating on the field side.
If Wisconsin finished with a better record than 7-5, I’m confident that both of these players would have received more recognition from those within the conference. But that’s how the cookie crumbles.
