During the offseason, most people thought the Wisconsin football team’s wide receiver room would be one of the deepest and most talented that Badgers fans have seen in recent memory.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the reality — and the air raid offense never took flight. That’s why the recruiting department is doing extensive homework this offseason to find another boundary wide receiver to complement the weapons like Will Pauling and Bryson Green.

On Monday, the Badgers made its first known offer to a wideout in the transfer portal to Division 3 pass catcher Jaden Richardson from Tufts University.

Wisconsin Football Offers D-III WR Jaden Richardson

Jaden Richardson is a California native with two years of eligibility remaining — which could make sense for a Wisconsin football program with plenty of young players they’re developing at the position.

He has appeared in 19 games at Tufts, compiling 92 catches for 1,564 yards and 20 touchdowns on 17 yards per catch. This past season, Richardson caught 46 passes for 830 yards and 13 touchdowns.

At 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, Richardson has the physical tools to play out wide, appears to block well, and does well in contested catch situations.

Southern Illinois, Washington, Liberty, USF, Towson, Rhode Island, and several others are also in the mix. We’ll see if the Wisconsin football coaching staff tries to get him on campus in the coming weeks.
