Wisconsin Football Pushing Hard for Commitments From These 2024 Recruits
Luke Fickell, the head coach of the Wisconsin football program, has reason to celebrate as his team hosted a successful opening round of June official visits that resulted in four verbal commitments.
The Badgers secured verbal commitments from three-star cornerback Vernon Woodward, three-star defensive end Hank Weber, four-star offensive tackle Kevin Haywood, and three-star interior offensive lineman Ryan Cory bringing UW’s list of committed players up to 12.
These four commitments are an excellent start for Fickell and his staff, but they are not resting on their laurels. There are still several uncommitted high-priority targets who recently took officials to Madison, and the coaching staff is pushing hard to close their recruitments.
Let’s explore who those players are.
Four-Star Running Back, Darrion Dupree
Four-star running back Darrion Dupree, out of Chicago, Illinois, looks more and more like a future Wisconsin football player with every passing day.
As it stands, the industry-generated composite rankings have Dupree as the No. 363 recruit in the 2024 class, the No. 35 running back, and the No. 8 prospect to hail from Illinois.
Coming off his official visit, the coaching staff did everything they could to wrap it up on the spot, but he remained insistent on taking all of his visits, which is consistent with his message all along. That said, a trusted source to BadgerNotes has shared that the Wisconsin Badgers team is the “runaway favorite” to land the dynamic tailback.
The only team UW has to be fearful of for the services of the Mt. Carmel High School standout is the Michigan Wolverines.
Long-Time Wisconsin Football Target, Four-Star EDGE Anelu Lafaele
The Wisconsin football team has been involved in four-star EDGE rusher Anelu Lafaele’s recruitment dating back to the Paul Chryst administration.
Lafaele, out of St. Louis High School in Honolulu, Hawaii, released a top seven list of Arizona State, Hawaii, Notre Dame, Oregon State, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin. He later announced that he planned to announce his commitment on July 1.
According to 247Sports, Lafaele, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound pass rusher, is the No. 17 EDGE in the country and the No. 2 player in Hawaii.

Wisconsin’s coaching staff wants Lafaele badly and has focused on making this one happen at all costs. It’s a matter of when he’ll be a Badger, not if.
In conclusion, Luke Fickell and the Badgers had a successful opening round of official visits, securing commitments from four talented recruits. However, they are not done yet and are still pushing hard to add more top-tier talent to their program. The future looks bright for Wisconsin football, and fans can’t wait to see what the future holds.
