Wisconsin Football Provides Injury Update on Tanner Mordecai
Will Wisconsin football get Tanner Mordecai back this season?
In the recent Wisconsin football game against the Indiana Hoosiers, the Badgers faced a humbling 20-14 defeat, struggling defensively out the gate and failing to capitalize on offensive opportunities.
While this loss raised several questions, one of the most significant storylines revolved around quarterback Tanner Mordecai. Mordecai, who had undergone surgery on his broken hand just three weeks before the game, was spotted warming up before the matchup.
The fact that Tanner Mordecai is on the field throwing during warmups just weeks after having surgery on his hand is shocking to me.

Despite suiting up and being listed as questionable on the injury report, Mordecai did not take the field. Instead, the team’s redshirt freshman, Braedyn Locke, earned his third consecutive start.
Wisconsin Football Provides Injury Update on Tanner Mordecai
The injury status of Tanner Mordecai remains a hot topic of interest for Wisconsin Badgers fans and observers.
During a postgame interview, Wisconsin football head coach Luke Fickell addressed Mordecai warming up but offered no precise timetable for his return, mentioning that Mordecai hadn’t practiced much during the week.
“Tanner warmed up a little bit,” Fickell commented, adding, “Hopefully, it’s getting close, but it’s hard to tell, right?”
Fickell also discussed other Badgers players listed as questionable this week, including Braelon Allen and Chimere Dike, acknowledging that their limited practice during the week made it challenging to put them on the field both for their safety and the team’s performance.
“There were a few guys obviously didn’t make the trip and then obviously some guys that weren’t dressed as well,” Fickell explained.
As for Mordecai’s status for the rest of the season, it remains uncertain. With just three games left before Wisconsin football hopefully appears in a bowl game, the Badgers face the difficult question of whether to reinstate Mordecai as the starter — if he’s healthy enough to play.
The decision will depend on his recovery and reintegration with the starting lineup, and these answers will likely unfold in the coming weeks.
