Nebraska football recruiting news, ...

Wisconsin Badgers Land Highest-Rated TE Recruit in School History

Over the weekend, the Wisconsin football program landed another blue-chip prospect for its 2024 recruiting class.

After visiting Madison during Wisconsin’s junior day, four-star tight end Grant Stec out of Algonquin, Illinois, announced his commitment to UW.

Per the 247sports Composite, Stec is the No. 212 overall prospect in the 2024 recruiting class, the No. 10 TE in the country, and the No. 4 player in Illinois.

The 6-foot-6, 220-pound TE chose Wisconsin over offers from Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Iowa State, Michigan State, Louisville, Minnesota, Missouri, Northwestern, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers, Syracuse, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech.

It’s also worth noting that Stec is the highest-rated TE prospect to commit to Wisconsin football, according to 247Sports. He joins four-star quarterback Mabrey Mettauer as the only other committed prospect in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

Wisconsin Football Hands Out Several In-State Offers

Wisconsin football hosted 15 high school recruits on campus this past weekend, 13 of which are members of the 2024 recruiting class.

During those visits, Luke Fickell and his coaching staff extended scholarship offers to several notable in-state prospects, such as three-star offensive tackle Derek Jensen, three-star linebacker Landon Gauthier, and 2025 tight end James Flanigan out of Green Bay.

Jensen, a standout OT at Arrowhead high school, is the No. 6 ranked player in Wisconsin and currently holds offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Virginia, and several others.

And Gauthier, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound LB from Bayport High School, is the No. 10 prospect in Wisconsin’s 2024 recruiting class.

The three-star linebacker currently holds offers from Minnesota, North Dakota State, Ohio, Syracuse, and Wyoming. Still, he recently picked up a crystal ball projection for Wisconsin football after picking up an offer from the Badgers.
