Wisconsin Football Loses Associate Head Coach Mike Brown
Wisconsin football is on the market for a new wide receivers coach.
The Wisconsin Badgers football program has lost its associate head coach and wide receiver coach, Mike Brown, to a new gig on Sunday. 247Sports first reported his departure, and it was later confirmed by BadgerNotes.com.
He is moving on after one year in Madison and accepting a role as the next WRs coach at the University of Notre Dame — reuniting with Irish head coach Marcus Freeman, who he coached alongside at Cincinnati.
Wisconsin Football Loses Mike Brown to Same Position Coaching WRs at Notre Dame.
As mentioned, the former Wisconsin football WRs coach Mike Brown is joining Marcus Freeman — who was the defensive coordinator under Luke Fickell when they were all at Cincinnati.
The Irish were in the market for a new WRs coach after firing Chansi Stuckey — and Brown has been a name linked to Notre Dame ever since.
He also will work alongside Gino Guidigli again, who is the active quarterbacks coach at Notre Dame — and worked with Brown at both UC and briefly at Wisconsin.
The Badgers had high expectations for their wide receiver room in 2023, and other than transfer Will Pauling breaking out and catching 66 passes for 694 yards and four touchdowns, there were few other standouts.
Brown is only 34 and considered a fast riser in the college football coaching ranks. There have also been rumors that he was open to exploring another job opportunity after the season regardless because he and Phil Longo didn’t mesh particularly well.
It’s also worth noting that Brown served as the primary recruiter for 2024 four-star wideout Kyan Berry-Johnson.
Wisconsin football will now have its first coaching staff shakeup and will be on the market for a new WRs coach heading into 2024.
