The University of Wisconsin football program’s recruiting department deserves a nice relaxing vacation when all of this craziness from the transfer portal window opening comes to a close.

That said, the Badgers have continued searching for additions to their outside linebacker room, and a source has indicated that Weber State edge-rusher Jack Kelly is a new name Wisconsin has made contact with.

Kelly later confirmed to BadgerNotes.com that Wisconsin’s Director of Player Personnel, Max Stienecker, contacted him, expressing interest.

Standing at 6-foot-3, 235 pounds, Kelly has already picked up scholarship offers from Houston, Middle Tennessee, Coastal Carolina, North Texas, UCONN, UAB, Oregon State, and Montana since entering the portal.

The Utah native has two years of eligibility remaining.

Wisconsin Football Showing Interest in Weber State Pass-Rusher Jack Kelly

Without re-hashing the obvious, Wisconsin football coaches desperately want to add pass-rushers this offseason. After getting a year to look at what options the Badgers had in-house, the coaching staff now has their sites set on re-shaping the room with a lighter, more athletic build.

Weber State outside linebacker Jack Kelly fits that description. In 11 games this past season, Kelly finished with 56 tackles, 35 pressures, 12 TFLs, 10.5 sacks, six pass deflections, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and an interception. According to Pro Football Focus, he had a 90.3 grade as a pass-rusher this past season — which is considered elite.

He was considered a three-star recruit in the 2021 recruiting class, initially choosing Weber State over scholarship offers from the Air Force, Army, Montana State, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah State.

It’s unclear if Wisconsin football coaches are pursuing a visit at this time, but it’s a name worth monitoring for the Badgers in the coming weeks.
