Wisconsin Football vs. Illinois: How to Watch + Score Predictions

Coming off of a tough loss to Iowa, the Wisconsin football program will shift gears to the Illinois Fighting Illini. The Badgers, currently 4-2, are looking to avenge last year’s embarrassing loss to Illinois and get the season back on track.

There isn’t a bigger storyline heading into this game than Tanner Mordecai’s injury. The Badgers will be trotting out redshirt freshman Braedyn Locke for his first career start. Locke took the reigns in the second half of the Iowa matchup and went 16-of-31 for 130 yards and an interception. With Mordecai out for the foreseeable future, Saturday’s tilt will be a good litmus test to see if Locke can rise to the occasion.

Conversely, this is not the same Illinois team from a season ago. The Fighting Illini are currently 3-4 on the season, and they have looked somewhat directionless through their first chunk of games. The Illinois defense is on a significant backslide from the 2022 season, as they are now ranked 100th in run defense and 80th in pass defense in the nation. If Illinois continues to have defensive woes, this will be a good opportunity for Wisconsin football to get right.
