Devastating Wisconsin Football Injury Casts Shadow on Season
Wisconsin football might be in some trouble…
The Wisconsin football team faced a tough 15-6 loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday, and the outcome was overshadowed by the devastating injury to starting quarterback Tanner Mordecai.
In the late second quarter, Mordecai’s misfortune struck when his right hand collided with the helmet of linebacker Jay Higgins during a follow-through.
The result was immediate and undeniable; Mordecai was in pain and couldn’t throw the football.

The injury forced him to exit the game for good, leaving the Wisconsin Badgers with no choice but to turn to backup quarterback Braedyn Locke. In relief, the redshirt freshman completed 15-of-30 pass attempts for 122 yards, an interception, and two fumbles.
Wisconsin Football Isn’t Optimistic on Tanner Mordecai…
As of now, the extent of Tanner Mordecai & his injury remains uncertain, and the team is anxiously awaiting news on his condition. In a post-game press conference, Wisconsin coach Luke Fickell didn’t provide much optimism, stating, “It doesn’t look good for a little while.”
This ambiguous prognosis has cast a pall of uncertainty over Mordecai’s future availability for the Badgers.
Mordecai’s injury is particularly disheartening because he steadily improved as the Wisconsin football starting quarterback.
If this is indeed the end of the road for Mordecai this season, or at least for the foreseeable future, his statistical contributions included completing 114 passes in 179 attempts for 1,127 yards. He also threw three passing touchdowns and recorded three interceptions. On the ground, Mordecai carried the ball 51 times for 161 yards, scoring four rushing touchdowns.
The uncertain future of the quarterback position hangs like a cloud over the Wisconsin football team, as they must now strive to overcome adversity and find success in the face of this unexpected setback.
