Wisconsin football lands commitment from former Ohio kicker Nathanial Zakos

Wisconsin football secured their second commitment of the day on Tuesday afternoon.

Former Ohio kicker Nathianal Vakos took to Twitter to announce his commitment to Wisconsin.

Vakos is the eighth transfer portal addition made by Luke Fickell, who is on quite a hot streak right now. The upcoming sophomore was named an All-American in his first year.

In the 2022 season, Vakos was an excellent place kicker. He finished with an 81.5% field goal percentage and made 98% of his extra-point attempts. Additionally, the freshman hit the third-longest field goal in the nation last year with a 56-yard make.

The Ohio native missed just one field goal in 40 yards last year and was 5-for-9 from kicks over 40 yards out. His accuracy speaks for itself, and he should be an excellent placekicker at UW.

Vakos heads to Madison, looking at a competition with returning placekicker Nate Van Zelst who hit 78.6% of his field goals in 2022. Vito Calvaruso will also be on the roster next year, making it a three-person scramble for the starting placekicker job.

Fickell and company have secured two recruits on the day, with more expected to come later this evening. On the day, Fickell landed former Mississippi State QB Braedyn Locke and now Nathanial Zakos.

The Badgers are not done in the transfer portal, so keep an eye out for all the latest additions heading to Madison soon.
