Wisconsin football secures commitment from former Cincinnati WR Will Pauling
Wisconsin football wrapped up its busy day with another commitment on Tuesday evening.
Former Cincinnati wide receiver Will Pauling took to Twitter to announce his commitment to UW.
The tenth transfer portal addition comes from Luke Fickell’s old stomping grounds. With the commitment, Wisconsin has bolstered the wide receiver room with another young target.
Pauling is a former three-star wide receiver out of Illinois. According to 247Sports, the slot receiver was the 163rd wide receiver in the 2020 class and the 29th-ranked player in Illinois.
Pauling redshirted in his first year in 2021, where he appeared in one game and hauled in a catch for six yards. In 2022, the 5-foot-10, 180-pound receiver appeared in six games for the Bearcats. In those games, Pauling secured 12 catches for 122 yards.
Looking at the tape, Pauling has shown flashes as an excellent slot receiver option. Despite his smaller frame, Pauling strives in contested catch situations. Additionally, he has a quick burst off the line and can easily use his footwork to create separation.
There’s plenty to like about Pauling’s skillset, and his abilities could make him an integral piece in the revamped Wisconsin offense. If the Illinois native can earn playing time, he’ll be a quality option for the next Badgers quarterback.
Pauling heads to Madison to join a young and talented receiver corps. With young receivers such as Keontez Lewis, Skyler Bell, and Markus Allen, Wisconsin is building a group of pass catchers who can contribute for years.
