Greg Gard and the coaching staff of the Wisconsin basketball program are gearing up to recruit a sizable class in 2025. Four-star forward EJ Walker out of Erlanger, Kentucky, among the players offered, is one of the Badgers top forward targets.

Walker visited Wisconsin back in June and wasted little time planning a return trip to Madison. Now, the nation’s No. 118 player in the 2025 recruiting class plans on returning to campus for an unofficial visit on November 10 when the Badgers take on Tennessee in a marquee non-conference matchup.

“My relationship with the [Wisconsin basketball] staff is great,” Walker told BadgerNotes. “I talk to coach Gard and Chambliss the most. Coach Gard always makes sure I feel like a priority to the program, even when he was on vacation. Coach Chambliss is always energetic, checks in with my development a lot, and encourages me about how the work I put in is showing.”

Wisconsin Basketball Staff Starting to Zero in on EJ Walker

Although Wisconsin Badgers assistant Dean Oliver is acting as the lead recruiter for EJ Walker, the program sent coach Chambliss down to Kentucky earlier this week to drop in and watch him work out.

As it stands, the four-star recruit holds offers from Arizona State, Cal, Northern Kentucky, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Ohio State, Purdue, Texas A&M, Toledo, Virginia Tech, Xavier, and several others.

It’s easy to see what Wisconsin basketball head coach Greg Gard likes about EJ Walker. The 6-foot-8 forward has tremendous versatility & toughness, is a hard worker, and can play inside out on offense.

In addition to EJ Walker’s visit to Madison, he has also planned trips to Purdue, Missouri, Butler, and Ohio State. Louisville, Iowa, Notre Dame, Minnesota, Dayton, and West Virginia are also keeping tabs.
