Who Will Lead Wisconsin Football Through the 2023 Season?
Madison, Wis. – The Wisconsin football team is full of experienced veteran players this year, however, none of them are established leaders. Heading into the 2023 season, the question many have is which player will step-up to lead the Badgers?
This past season for the Wisconsin Badgers football was not what the fans or the players expected at all. Both had lofty expectations and the Wisconsin football team was expected to contend for a Big Ten Championship. However, after the team fell short and the staff changed drastically, many fans were left wondering who would lead the team going into the 2023 season.
Wisconsin Badgers Eyeing Specific Veteran to Lead Squad Throughout 2023 Season
While there are plenty of candidates to lead the team this coming season, there is only one real option for the Badgers. Arguably the top running back in college football, Braelon Allen, is mature beyond his years. Allen has been praised as one of the hardest workers on and off the field. This is the exact mentality that Head Coach Luke Fickell is looking for in a leader for the Wisconsin Badgers. Given the new offense, this upcoming season should be another breakout season for Allen.
The leader of the Wisconsin football team must embody the play-style of the team. Wisconsin is going to be a physical, tenacious, and hard-working team moving forward. The best player to fill that role would certainly be Allen. Given his play on the field as well as his maturity off the field, Allen should be a fantastic leader for the Badgers.
Can Braelon Allen Lead the Wisconsin Badgers Football Team Next Season?
Clearly a leader needs to be disciplined and being a team-player is an absolute must. Allen may fit all of those categories, but there are many other things a leader must do as well. According to The Merriam Webster Dictionary, the word “Leader” refers to someone who “… has commanding authority or influence.” In this context, Allen is the epitome of a commanding influence for the Badgers. Allen, the 19-year old phenom running back, has been a silent leader for the Badgers the past two seasons.
Wisconsin football needs a new leader going into a pivotal first-year for coach Fickell and his staff. The staff will likely turn to Allen to lead the team for them due his connection with the team and fit into the team philosophy. This past season, Allen rushed for his second-consecutive season of 1200+ yards and 11+ touchdowns. Allen also added key plays that helped the team earn wins, including his contribution to the teams’ win over Oklahoma State.
