Madison, Wis. – The Wisconsin football program has wrapped up spring practice after a loaded 15 sessions. Following a slew of changes in the offseason, the hype surrounding the Badgers is at a high.

CBS Sports recently posted their post-spring top 25 projections. Wisconsin was not listed in the original “way too early rankings” following the 2022 season, but after a big spring, the Badgers have climbed the ladder to No. 19 in the latest projection.

Wisconsin is one of four Big Ten teams to crack the top 25, joining Michigan (No. 2), Ohio State (No. 3), and Penn State (No. 4). The Big Ten came in second for the most teams in the top 25, trailing the PAC-12 and SEC who both had six teams make the cut.

CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd had this to say about Wisconsin’s ranking:

“A complete change of culture in Madison, Wisconsin, as Luke Fickell replaces Paul Chryst. New offensive coordinator Phil Longo is high on SMU transfer QB Tanner Mordecai. Air Wisco anyone? Counter that with the fact Mordecai threw interceptions on consecutive passes in the spring game. Yikes! Fickell will stabilize a program that had been stuck in the past a bit.”

The new era for the Wisconsin football program is officially underway, and expectations are climbing after a solid spring. With new faces in the mix, some top returning contributors, and a relatively easy schedule, the Badgers could be a top choice to come out of the West division.

We are just under 115 days away from kicking off the 2023 season.
