The Badgers took a big swing at a top ten running back in 2025.

The recruiting and coaching staff for the Wisconsin football program has been on a hot streak this summer, landing ten recruits alone in June.

Obviously, you can’t land every recruit you host, but If this staff can get a recruit to take an official visit, there’s a good chance they can land them. One of those recruits is the high-four star running back, Byron Louis, out of American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, FL. That is the same school 2024 safety, Xavier Lucas.

Louis is a highly sought-after prospect with almost 30 Division I offers, including offers from some of the biggest programs in college football like Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Auburn, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, and many more. The fact that he used one of his official visits to check out the Wisconsin football team speaks volumes about where this program is and where it is headed.

The recruiting staff made it pretty clear to Louis that they were all in on him and no one else. They put their money where their mouths were, canceling visits and telling prospects, ‘thanks, but no thanks’ to some high-level prospects like 4-star back George Forster, who ultimately committed to Rutgers after having the Badgers in his top 5.

Unfortunately for the Badgers, Louis was always going to be tough to pull out of Florida. Like with Lucas last year, the Florida State Seminoles were always the biggest threat. Unlike the case with Lucas, it doesn’t look like the Badgers will be able to lure him away.

Louis recently completed his official visit to Florida State, and it didn’t take long for Zach Blostein, a contributor to Noles247, to put in a crystal ball prediction for Louis to commit to the Seminoles.

Louis’ activity on X (Twitter) would support that, frequently commenting FSU emojis and other Seminole content.

The Wisconsin football staff took a big swing at a big target, but it’s one they could afford to miss. They have a three-running back group coming in as a part of their 2024 class. They didn’t necessarily need to bring in another running back. But if you can land a guy like Louis, you try ten out of ten times.
