It’s never too early to start thinking about the 2024 college football season and, more specifically, who will win the Heisman Trophy. As it pertains to the Wisconsin Badgers football team, Luke Fickell and company had just one representative on Fan Duel’s first installment of future Heisman odds: Miami transfer quarterback Tyler Van Dyke.

According to Fan Duel’s way-too-early Heisman Trophy odds they just released, the Badgers expected quarterback has +15,000 odds to win the prestigious award. In short, his odds aren’t particularly favorable.

For the second straight offseason, the Wisconsin Badgers football coaches decided that going out and finding a veteran quarterback in the transfer portal gave them the best chance to win games.

The Badgers were able to land Tyler Van Dyke, who was a former four-star recruit coming out of High School and a multi-year starter in the ACC.

His veteran presence should help bridge the gap between winning games in 2024 and aid in mentoring the young stable of signal callers behind him: Braedyn Locke, Nick Evers, Cole LaCrue, and Mabrey Mettauer.

Over 28 career starts with Miami, the Connecticut native threw for 7,469 passing yards, 54 touchdowns, and 23 interceptions. Van Dyke also had 11 career games with 300+ passing yards and could help elevate a Wisconsin football passing attack that struggled in 2023.

While I’m not inclined to provide gambling advice, I don’t have any plans on wagering on the Badgers quarterback to win the Heisman, regardless of the odds.
