Luke Fickell and the Wisconsin football program are turning heads with their success in the transfer portal this offseason — but with that, comes a few former Badgers finding new stomping grounds.

After entering the portal in early December, sophomore wide receiver Skyler Bell has found a new home at UConn under Jim Mora.

Skyler Bell’s departure from the program was a surprise to none, given sophomore Will Pauling‘s nationally recognized success at the slot receiver position.

Despite his dip in the Badgers’ depth chart, Bell will be an important asset to the Huskies, who went 3-9 and struggled on the offensive side of the ball this season. The Bronx, New York native brings a lot of upside and athleticism to the table, heading to UConn with 755 career yards and six touchdowns under his belt. Bell has also rushed for an impressive 160 career yards from the receiver position, all of which were recorded in the 2022 season.

Bell’s season highlights in Madison include a fantastic touchdown grab against Washington State in early September and a season-high 53 yards against Illinois in redshirt freshman quarterback Braedyn Locke’s first career collegiate start.

Fickell and his staff are likely to hunt for one more receiver from the portal in the coming weeks. However, Badger fans should have confidence in the position group ahead of a challenging 2024 schedule, especially after watching the “Air Raid” offense roll against LSU in the ReliaQuest Bowl on New Year’s Day. Will Pauling, Bryson Green, Trech Kekahuna, and co. will be fun to watch under former Miami transfer quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, alongside an exciting running back room of Chez Mellusi, Tawee Walker, and three electrifying freshmen recruits.
