Wisconsin Football: Top 2024 DL Target Announces Commitment Details

The Wisconsin football program has had some ups and downs on the recruiting trail, particularly in their pursuit of defensive linemen in the 2024 class.

Four-star defensive end Dominic Kirks recently committed to Washington, Dillan Johnson chose Northwestern, and three-star prospect Eddie Tuerk chose Big Ten rival Illinois, as did Joe Barna.

So Wisconsin, who currently holds just one defensive line commit in three-star Hank Weber, could use some positive news considering the Badgers want a three-man class at the position.

Still, Wisconsin football is in on several intriguing prospects, including one of their top targets. One of those 2024 targets, four-star defensive end Benedict Umeh, took to Twitter to announce he will commit on July 8.

Wisconsin Football Recruiting Target Benedict Umeh Announces Commitment Details

According to the 247Sports Composite, Benedict Umeh is the No. 81 player in the nation, the No. 12 DL, and the No. 1 player in Connecticut.

Thus far, Umeh has racked up offers from Stanford, Penn State, Duke, Florida, Miami, Michigan, Iowa, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, USC, and countless other schools.

From that list, Umeh took official visits to the Wisconsin football program, followed by Duke, Penn State, and Stanford, in that order.

It’s worth noting that there is currently a Crystal Ball prediction for Umeh to land at Stanford. However, Wisconsin has their top recruiter Colin Hitschler as the lead dog in this recruitment, and given his prowess on the East Cost — anything is possible. However, my intel suggests Badgers fans won’t be landing the top 100 defensive linemen on July 8.
