Wisconsin Football Recruiting Target Picks up Unfortunate Crystal Ball
The Badgers have some work to do with a three-star cornerback target from Texas.
The Wisconsin football coaches have some work to do with one of its recruiting targets at cornerback in the 2025 class.
Shortly after the Wisconsin Badgers secured a spot in Zadian “Zay” Gentry’s top eight schools, which included Auburn, TCU, SMU, Arkansas, Baylor, Nebraska, and Oregon State, the Texas native has picked up a crystal ball by a recruiting insider for another school.
National analyst Mike Roach has placed a prediction for the 6-foot-1 defensive back to land at SMU under head coach Rhett Lashlee, who was the offensive coordinator for Wisconsin football quarterback Tyler Van Dyke during his breakout season at Miami.
Wisconsin Football Recruiting Target Predicted to Land at SMU
Although early signs suggest that Zay Gentry, hailing from McKinney, Texas, is inclined to stay close to home and join SMU, it’s important to note that this recruitment process is still ongoing.
Wisconsin football will host Gentry on an official recruiting visit to Madison from May 30-June 2. During that time, Badgers cornerbacks coach Paul Haynes and Luke Fickell will have a chance to flip the script.
Missouri, Oklahoma State, TCU, Baylor, and Nebraska will also get official visits from the nation’s No. 40 cornerback.
In his junior campaign at McKinney High School in Texas, Gentry recorded 41 tackles, four pass breakups, and two interceptions.
The Wisconsin football program has recently begun falling out of favor with four-star recruiting target Tariq Hayer as well. So, it’s possible we will see a few newer names begin to emerge at the position by this summer.
