In a movement to fill gaps left by notable departures like inside linebacker Jordan Turner, wide receivers Chimere Dike and Skyler Bell, plus left tackle Nolan Rucci, Luke Fickell and the Wisconsin Badgers football team have been aggressive in the transfer portal.

Their recent additions of inside linebacker Jaheim Thomas, defensive end Elijah Hills, cornerback RJ Delancy, and linebacker Tackett Curtis brought their total number of commitments to 13 from the portal. Perhaps more notably, Curtis is also the sixth linebacker the Wisconsin Badgers have brought in thus far to rebuild their linebacking corps.

The team’s focus on bolstering both sides of the ball to better align with Fickell’s preferred schemes has been evident. The staff’s recruitment efforts have landed key positions, including a running back depth, a veteran quarterback, linebackers, a pair of pass-rushers, a wide receiver, a tight end, and even a long snapper.

While defensive line depth and wide receiver remain a consideration, the strides made by the Wisconsin Badgers staff have been commendable.

As it stands, the Wisconsin football program has constructed a top 10 transfer portal class this offseason, at least according to On3.

Wisconsin Football Has the No. 6 Ranked Transfer Portal Class

This 10-person transfer class has propelled the Wisconsin Badgers to the No. 6 rank nationally in portal acquisitions, according to On3. These lists are ever-changing, but their high standing underlines the aggressiveness of this staff to go out and try patching some of the roster’s glaring holes.

Notably, schools like Colorado, Louisville, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Missouri lead the way.

It’s important to remember that the transfer portal isn’t the answer to solving all of the Wisconsin football team’s problems. Most additions are made to build and sustain depth. It’s unreasonable to expect every addition to become a star because the portal has no perfect prospects.

However, the significance of this transfer class cannot be overstated, especially as the Wisconsin Badgers prepare to navigate a new era in the Big Ten. This staff is under pressure to turn things around quickly, and they’ll need this influx of talent to get them one step closer to having a roster that’ll allow them to run their schemes more effectively.
