The University of Wisconsin football program’s highly anticipated 2024 showdown with the Alabama Crimson Tide has been slated for prime exposure, securing an 11 a.m. central time broadcast on September 14 as part of Fox’s “Big Noon Kickoff.

This marquee matchup set to take place at Camp Randall Stadium this season marks the start of a home-and-home series, with Wisconsin football visiting Alabama the following year on September 13, 2025.

Historically speaking, the all-time series between the Badgers and the Crimson Tide is knotted up at 1-1. Their last matchup was at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, where Wisconsin football fell to Alabama 35-17 in September 2015, during Paul Chryst’s debut as head coach. Their sole victory in the series dates back to a 15-0 win on November 3, 1928.

Adding to the anticipation, this will be the first series meeting since Nick Saban’s retirement was announced in January. Alabama has since appointed Kalen DeBoer, the former Washington coach, as his successor.

Interestingly, former Wisconsin football assistant coach Colin Hitschler, who came over from Cincinnati and joined the Badgers when Luke Fickell took over the program, left this offseason and joined Alabama to serve as one of their co-defensive coordinators and defensive backs coaches.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, Alabama opened as 8-point betting favorites over the Badgers.

Over the last 50 years, Wisconsin football has faced off against just three top-10 nonconference opponents at home — and their matchup aginst Alabama figures to be number 11. Their current record in those matchups against top-10 opponents at Camp Randall Stadium is 1-9.

This game presents a prime opportunity for coach Fickell to notch a landmark victory as he aims to elevate the program into College Football Playoff contention.
