Wisconsin Football secures commitment from former USC wide receiver CJ Williams

Wisconsin football secured a massive addition through the transfer portal.

Former USC wide receiver CJ Williams took to Twitter to announce his commitment to Wisconsin.

Williams’ decision comes after a visit to Wisconsin this past weekend, and the commitment significantly boosts UW’s wide receiver room.

According to 247Sports, Williams is a former four-star recruit out of California. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound receiver was the 73rd-ranked recruit in the 2022 class. On top of that, he was the 10th-ranked wide receiver and the 6th-ranked player in California. Williams committed to USC in January of 2022. Just a year later, he heads to Madison.

Williams has ties with Badgers QB Nick Evers, who transferred to Wisconsin on December 17th, 2022. Evers and Williams played together in the All-American Bowl and have been friends ever since.

The freshman WR appeared in three games with USC. In those games, Williams hauled in four catches for 34 yards. Although he saw limited time at USC, he’ll head to Madison as a potential day-one starter.

Williams was among the most sought-after wide receivers in the 2022 class and the transfer portal. He has good height as a receiver, giving him a leg up in jump ball situations. His most intriguing attribute, however, is his route running. Williams has an excellent pace on his routes and can easily create separation.

Williams will join the Badgers looking to earn a starting spot. With his skill set, he could make an immediate impact as a pass-catcher.

Luke Fickell is on fire with his recruiting, and it doesn’t look like he’s stopping any time soon.
