Wisconsin Football IOL Emerson Mandell Signs National Letter of Intent
Wisconsin football signed its 4-star IOL in the 2024 recruiting class.
Wisconsin football went into the state that pretends it’s known for its lakes and landed four-star interior offensive lineman Emerson Mandell from underneath the Gophers’ nose on the recruiting trail. Now, there’s no question where he’ll call home next season.
Mandell, a top 250 national recruit, took his official visit to Madison in June and committed to the Badgers two weeks later.
The Minnesota native made things official on Wednesday by signing his letter of intent to join the Wisconsin Badgers as part of the early signing period on National Signing Day.

Wisconsin Football Signee: Emerson Mandell
Position: Interior offensive line
Height: 6-foot-5
Weight: 295 pounds
School: Irondale (St. Paul, Minnesota)
Recruiting Rankings
247Sports Composite: 4-star – Grade: 0.9169 – No. 226 player in the nation; No. 11 IOL; No. 2 in Minnesota.
247Sports: 3-star – Grade: 89 – No. 31 IOL; No. 3 in Minnesota.
On3: 4-star – Grade: 94 – No. 84 in the nation; No. 3 IOL; No. 2 in Minnesota.
Rivals: 4-star – Grade: 5.8 – No. 203 in the nation; No. 9 IOL; No. 1 in Minnesota
ESPN: 3-star – Grade: 78 – No. 44 IOL; No. 3 in Minnesota
The first thing that comes to mind when considering Wisconsin football commit Emerson Mandell is that he’s a mauler on the interior. He is a physical presence who finishes his blocks and also has the size and length to project at tackle, although I think he’s an elite guard prospect.
Mandell plays with good pad level, is a people mover, and has a chance to be an absolute force as a run blocker, which the Wisconsin Badgers need on the interior. He is one of the safest recruits in the class, IMO.
Commitment to the Wisconsin Football Program
Emerson Mandell committed to the Wisconsin football team on July 4, 2023, not long after he wrapped up all of his official recruiting visits.
Mandell held 14 Division 1 offers but chose the Wisconsin Badgers over Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa State, Kansas, Oklahoma, Penn State, Texas A&M, Northwestern, and several other schools.
The Badgers are bringing in a five-man offensive line recruiting class in 2024 to reshape this OL room to have players developed specifically as either tackles or interior players. That’s a slightly different angle than the previous staff preferred. I could see Mandell pushing for a spot in the two-deep from day one due to the impressive physicality he brings to the table. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I would be surprised if he didn’t wind up being playing meaningful snaps for Wisconsin football during his career.
I am very happy to announce that I have committed to the university of Wisconsin @CoachFick @BadgerFootball @CoachBicknell pic.twitter.com/nqcFbTI1uR
