Wisconsin Football; Former Badgers QB Myles Burkett transfers to Albany
Franklin quarterback Myles Burkett, a Wisconsin recruit, has thrown 35 career touchdowns in 17 games.

I don’t think I’m in the minority when I say everyone was hoping for a storybook ending when in-state quarterback Myles Burkett announced he would join the Wisconsin Badgers football program.

Unfortunately, that didn’t come to fruition. After sticking it out one season to compete under head coach Luke Fickell, Burkett entered the transfer portal, seeking a new opportunity to finish his career.

After weighing his options, Burkett recently announced his commitment to the University of Albany, who were the National Semifinalists in the FCS, bringing three years of eligibility to his new team.

The Great Danes were in need of a new quarterback following the departure of starter Reese Poffenbarger, who left via the portal and wound up with the Miami Hurricanes. It’s also worth mentioning this domino effect happened because Tyler Van Dyke, who is now with the Wisconsin football team, left and created a hole there.

We live in the matrix.

Standing at 6 feet and weighing 202 pounds, Myles Burkett, a three-star quarterback from Franklin High School, initially joined the Wisconsin football program as part of the talented in-state 2022 recruiting class.

At the time, he held offers from schools like Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Miami (OH), and Northern Illinois, but Burkett chose the Wisconsin Badgers very quickly after he earned the offer.

During his time at the UW, he completed 4-of-5 passes for 84 yards in a non-conference matchup against New Mexico State while serving as the backup quarterback while Chase Wolf was injured.

Unfortunately, it became clear his opportunity to earn the job in Phil Longo’s air raid offense looked bleak when Wisconsin football added three transfer quarterbacks last offseason, two of whom had four years of eligibility.

With his move to the University of Albany, Burkett has positioned himself to push for a starting job at quarterback and lead an FCS program that’s on the rise. Everyone in the state of Wisconsin is pulling for him to succeed.
