Wisconsin football redshirt freshman quarterback Myles Burkett has announced that he will enter the transfer portal after two seasons playing for his hometown program.

“I achieved my dream of being a Badger, a goal I set from a young age, and for that, I will be forever grateful,” Burkett said in a social media post. “Thank you to Coach Chryst, Coach Fickell, and Coach Longo for allowing me to be myself and for shaping me into the man and player I am today.”

The signal caller from Franklin, Wisconsin, will have three years of eligibility remaining.

During Wisconsin football season, Myles Burkett served as the No. 3 quarterback on the depth chart behind Tanner Mordecai and Braedyn Locke. He was later elevated to the backup spot on the two-deep after Mordecai was injured and required surgery.

Burkett didn’t appear in a single game under first-year head coach Luke Fickell this past season. The in-state product did see action in two games during the 2022 season under former head coach Paul Chryst, however, completing 4-of-5 pass attempts for 84 yards.

The 6-foot, 202-pound quarterback who won a state title at Franklin High School joined the Wisconsin football program as a member of the 2022 recruiting class. Per the composite rankings, Burkett was a three-star recruit and considered the No. 43 pro-style quarterback in the country.

Burkett is the second Wisconsin Badgers player to enter the transfer portal this offseason — joining center Dylan Barrett.
