Wisconsin Football Hosting Big 12 Transfer Wide Receiver on Visit
The Badgers have a transfer wide receiver on campus.
The Wisconsin football program is hosting a former Big 12 wide receiver on a visit.
Per On3’s Pete Nakos, Baylor transfer WR Armani Winfield is on campus for a visit with UW today.
Baylor wide receiver Armani Winfield is visiting Wisconsin today, he tells @On3sports.
Winfield was Baylor’s highest-rated signee in the 2022 class. He caught 7 passes for 90 yards as a redshirt freshman in 2023.

Winfield entered the transfer portal in April after two seasons with Baylor. He initially joined the Bears as a part of the 2022 recruiting class, where he was ranked as the nation’s No. 211 player and the No. 30 WR in his class. Winfield is currently rated as a three-star transfer and the No. 124 available receiver in the portal, per the 247Sports rankings.
Winfield used a redshirt in his freshman year after appearing in three games, recording one reception for ten yards. In 2023, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound receiver logged seven receptions for 90 yards. He will have three seasons of eligibility remaining at his next stop.
Badgers head coach Luke Fickell spoke after the Wisconsin football team’s final spring practice about the team’s intentions to remain active in the portal. They’ve already brought in some potential defensive line reinforcements for visits in Jay’Viar Suggs and CJ West, and now they’re kicking the tires on some potential wide receiver help.
UW has an abundance of talent in the wide receiver room, with top contributors including Bryson Green, Will Pauling, Vinny Anthony, Tyrell Henry, and CJ Williams, plus some young talent in Quincy Burroughs, Trech Kekahuna, and Kyan Berry-Johnson. While WR isn’t the biggest position of need, some extra insurance on the boundary would be beneficial, and Winfield could fill that role.
The Wisconsin football program has landed two transfer commitments in the spring window from former Illinois OL Joey Okla and former Vanderbilt OL Leyton Nelson.
