Wisconsin Football Gets Some Disappointing News on the Recruiting Front

The University of Wisconsin football program recently suffered a tough blow on the recruiting front with the announcement of a highly sought-after prospect committing elsewhere.

Wisconsin football has had a terrific run of hits on the recruiting trail recently, landing commits from Darrion Dupree and Dilin Jones at tailback and flipping Dillan Johnson from Northwestern. 

However, the Badgers top remaining 2024 recruiting target on the defensive side of the ball made his college decision on Friday and chose to play for a Big Ten conference foe. 

Four-star defensive end Liam Andrews, the highest-rated prospect on UW’s board, chose Penn State over Wisconsin football and South Carolina — who all made his top three.

Wisconsin Football Misses on 4-Star DE Liam Andrews

Wisconsin football can’t be mad at themselves in recruiting Liam Andrews, he was a top 100 prospect nationally, and Greg Scruggs and the Badgers gave themselves a real chance. 

According to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, Andrews is the No. 92 player in the nation and the No. 2 player in Massachusetts.

He chose Penn State over offers from Auburn, Miami, Flordia, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and countless other schools.

Missing on Andrews in the 2024 recruiting cycle leaves a void that Wisconsin football still needs to fill on its defensive line and will now have to reassess its board and search for alternative options to fill this critical position.
