Wisconsin Football Fans React to the Badgers loss at Washington State
Wisconsin football got off to a slow start against Washington State. In the third quarter, however, everything started to come together. The Badgers scored 16 unanswered points and were within two by the start of the fourth quarter. Despite promising hopes of a comeback, it all fell apart.
So, how are Wisconsin football fans feeling about it?
Wisconsin Football’s Shaky Defense
Washington State opened the game by punting on its first two drives. The Cougars’ next three drives, however, each ended in points.
Wisconsin's defense can't generate any pressure. If it doesn't improve, it could be a long season defensively. #Badgers

Not used to Wisconsin not having a defense pic.twitter.com/XCJX8jRfqj

Tanner Mordecai Struggles Early for Wisconsin Football
Badgers quarterback Tanner Mordecai fumbled twice in the first half. The second strip-sack resulted in six points for WSU off of a scoop-and-score. Needless to say, fans were not pleased with the SMU transfer.

Wisconsin Badgers Trail Washington State Cougars 24-9 at Halftime
With one half in the books, Wisconsin football fans were not very happy.
Fickell said he wanted Wisconsin to play their best ball at the end of the season. He didn’t say he would be setting the bar so low in the beginning of the season…

Honestly only being down two scores with how terribly we have played isn't too bad. Absolutely have to punch in a TD on this first drive of the second half though.

Even a former Wisconsin football kicker chimed in on the one bright side of the night!
We got a Kicker though! 🙌🏻

Wisconsin Football Quarterback Tanner Mordecai Shines in Third Quarter
After his slow start, Mordecai orchestrated two touchdown drives in the third quarter. Mordecai capped-off the second drive with a spectacular throw and an equally impressive catch by wide receiver Skyler Bell.
That’s what the kids call sick I believe

Now that was a hell of a throw.

Should Wisconsin Football Have Been Awarded a Safety?
Early in the fourth quarter, Badgers linebacker James Thompson Jr. sacked WSU quarterback Cam Ward. Ward was ruled down at the one-yard line of Wazzu, but it appeared the play should have resulted in a safety. If it had, Wisconsin would have gotten the ball back tied 24-24.
Badger got screwed!!! That was a safety 100% #Wisconsin vs #WashingtonState
— Ryan Rutta (@ryroots) September 10, 2023
Um….how was that not a safety?? #Badgers

The safety call & fumble call was ATROCIOUS

Wisconsin Football Falls to Washington State 31-22
Despite what looked like a promising comeback, the Badgers’ early mistakes doomed them. UW had to play nearly perfectly in the second half to come back but fell just short. Some Wisconsin fans are taking the loss in stride. Others, however, are already calling to end the Luke Fickell era.
Well hey, at least Wisconsin is losing in new and exciting ways!

Refs did us no favors but the Badgers took WAY too long to get in gear tonight. Will be a tough film watch.

Hate to start over two games in but we have to fire Fickell before he gets on the plane
— Adam Dortherson (@ADortherson) September 10, 2023
Lots of potential offensively. Growing pains with a new staff and little talent left behind is expected.
— Wisconsin Nation (@Wisco___Nation) September 10, 2023
I feel as confident as I did before the game – we are going to win the west and be competitive in the BTCG.
