Luke Fickell and the University of Wisconsin football program have their eyes set on Tariq Hayer, a top 125 player in the 2025 recruiting class.

Hayer, a four-star cornerback, visited Wisconsin in October unofficially. He holds scholarship offers from Notre Dame, Penn State, Tennessee, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, South Carolina, Minnesota, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, and others.

Safeties coach Colin Hitschler and cornerback coach Paul Haynes are tag teaming this recruitment for the Washington, DC native. Their relationship appears to be in a good place at this juncture, considering the Wisconsin Badgers picked up a noteworthy prediction in his recruitment.

Wisconsin Football is Trending for 2025 Cornerback Tariq Hayer.

As for the prediction previously mentioned, a recruiting insider for 247Sports has favorably forecasted a crystal ball in favor of a Tariq Hayer commitment to the Wisconsin football team.

The 6-foot, 175-pound CB is the nation’s No. 114 overall recruit, the No. 15 cornerback, and the No. 2 player in the District of Columbia, per the industry-generated recruiting rankings.

Wisconsin football currently has the No. 15 ranked 2025 recruiting class, with the Badgers’ five commitments. Hayer would instantly become the team’s top-rated player and one of the highest-ranked cornerbacks commits in school history if Luke Fickell and company can close this thing out.

It hasn’t taken long for the new staff to elevate the Wisconsin Badgers’ recruiting efforts for cornerbacks since taking over. If they can help a few get to the NFL in recent years, it should turn that trend into a more consistent reality.
