Wisconsin Badgers football head coach Luke Fickell leads the team onto the field

After almost a month in between games, it is the final game week for Wisconsin football this season. The Badgers will take on the LSU Tigers in the ReliaQuest Bowl on New Years Day. Kick off is scheduled for 11 AM CST on ESPN2.

Both Wisconsin football and LSU will be without a chunk of players. Some have declared for the NFL Draft. Others have hopped into the transfer portal. Will that make a difference? Here is an early look at the LSU Tigers.

Wisconsin Football Avoids Jayden Daniels

The story of this game will be Wisconsin football will not have to see the 2023 Hesiman Trophy winner. in this game. LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels announced a few weeks ago he was headed to the NFL Draft. The Badgers will likely see sophomore Garrett Nussmeier under center.

Despite the loads of talent on the LSU offense, the Tigers will have to replace 5,000 yard and 50 total touchdowns Daniels accounted for. He was the leading passer and the leading rusher on the team. Granted, LSU has had time to prepare for this, but it will be interesting to see who gets valuable snaps this game.

The Tigers Still Have A Potent Offense

5,000 yards is incredible for one player, but Wisconsin football still has to account for other studs on the LSU offense. The wide receiver duo of Malik Nabors and Brian Thomas Jr will play in this game. Both have over 1,000 yards on the season and have combined for 29 touchdowns. Regardless who is at quarterback, both players are dangerous weapons for this offense.

This should be a good test for Ricardo Hallman. He will likely draw Nabors, who is almost a lock to be a first round draft pick. Hallman had a great season as the top corner on this Wisconsin football team. He will get everything he wants and then some.

Wisconsin Football Should Be Able To Score Points

LSU faced a tough schedule this season. The SEC is always one of the top conferences on the country. However, the Tigers gave up at least 30 points in seven of their 12 games. The competition was better than what the Badgers faced, but I still think it’s worth noting there could be a chance for the Wisconsin offense to put up some points.

It will be the last game for Tanner Mordecai under center. Will Phil Longo get a little extra creative this game? The Badgers will be without players like Braelon Allen, Chimere Dike and Skyler Bell, but I still like the trio of Bryson Green, Will Pauling, and C.J. Williams. We will see if the offense can generate some points because I think they need to in order to win this game.
