Wisconsin Football Linebacker Invited to Packers Local Prospect Day
The Badgers multi-year starter will get a look from Packers scouts.
CJ Goetz, a multi-year starter at outside linebacker for the Wisconsin Badgers football team, declared his intention to pursue an NFL career in January. Since then, he’s started getting attention from NFL scouts.
KPRC’s Aaron Wilson reported that the Green Bay Packers brass had invited Goetz to the team’s local prospect day. Despite not receiving an invite to the recent NFL Combine, Goetz showcased his skills at the Wisconsin Badgers pro day earlier this month, and it’s worth noting the Packers were in attendance at the McClain Center.

Goetz, a former three-star recruit from Catholic Memorial High School, concluded his six-year collegiate career with the Wisconsin Badgers at the end of the 2023 season under new head coach Luke Fickell.
The 6-foot-3 outside linebacker appeared in 59 games during his career at UW, finishing with 149 tackles, 50 pressures, 25.5 TFLs, nine sacks, five pass deflections, one forced fumble, and an INT.
Notably, his standout season came under the guidance of position coach Matt Mitchell, where he emerged as a key contributor on the edge with 60 tackles, 24 pressures, 11.0 tackles for loss, and 4.0 sacks as a starter.
According to Pro Football Focus, Goetz finished with a 75.4 grade, considered high quality by their grading metric. It was also the fifth-best defensive grade on the Wisconsin football team’s defense.
Goetz, who is projected to be signed as an undrafted free agent in the upcoming NFL Draft, joins a number of other former Wisconsin Badgers hoping to hear their names called when the draft rolls around in late April.
