While most college sports fans are consumed with the NCAA Tournaments and the transfer portal madness, the NFL Draft is under one month away. At the end of February, some Wisconsin football players showcased their skills in front of NFL scouts and GMs at the NFL Scouting Combine.

The Badgers also hosted NFL personnel at their annual pro day, where other Wisconsin football players who weren’t invited to the combine could perform in front of evaluators in hopes of raising their draft stock.

When you get this close to the NFL Draft, that means mock drafts, mock drafts, and more mock drafts.

One of the best sources for mock drafts is NFL.com. NFL.com employs multiple experts with years of experience with the draft and scouting backgrounds who release updated mocks up to the NFL Draft.

Chad Reuter is one of those experts who has over 20 years of NFL Draft experience. He released his latest 4-round mock draft for the 2024 Draft and has a pair of Wisconsin football players going in the third round.

Wisconsin Football Players Go Back-To-Back in Reuter’s Mock Draft

In his latest mock, released on March 22, Reuter has two Wisconsin football players go in the third round, back-to-back.

IOL Tanor Bortolini – Rd. 3 – Pick 91: Green Bay Packers

First, he has Wisconsin center Tanor Bortolini going to the Green Bay Packers at No. 91. The Packers are looking for interior line depth after losing starting guard Jon Runyan Jr. in free agency. Since Bortolini can play both center and guard, his versatility would be a big bonus for the Packers.

I think this is a pretty realistic pick. The former Wisconsin football player made himself a good amount of money during the Senior Bowl and the combine. He tested very well and showed his athleticism, which is something the Packers value. His relative athletic score (RAS), which is widely used in the NFL community to measure a player’s athletic ability, was an astounding 9.97 out of 10.

RB Braelon Allen – Rd. 3 – Pick 92: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Allen is viewed as the top skill player from the Wisconsin football program in the draft this year. After a so-so 2023 season, his draft stock took a bit of a hit, but because he is so young and strong, there is still plenty of upside to taking the 20-year-old back.

The Bucs have Rachaad White as their lead back, but Allen would be a nice bigger back to compliment White, who is just 6-0 and 214 lbs.

Being just 20 years old, the former Wisconsin football workhorse would likely join a team and split carries to start his career. But he has the potential to be a three-down running back, especially if he can improve as a pass catcher and in pass protection.

In a previous mock draft, Allen was projected to land with the Packers. Since then, the Packers made a surprising move by signing former Raiders back Josh Jacobs to a four-year deal, cutting Aaron Jones, and re-signing AJ Dillon. With that in mind, Allen may not fit in Green Bay as well as he may have just a few short weeks ago.
