Every new Wisconsin Badgers basketball season brings excitement and anticipation for the emergence of new young and exciting talents.

For the Wisconsin Badgers, the 2023-24 season is no exception, with two players recently catching the eye of Big Banter Sports as potential breakout stars in the star-studded Big Ten Conference.

Let’s dive into who they selected and what they’ll bring to the Wisconsin men’s basketball program this season.

Wisconsin Basketball Small Forward AJ Storr (No. 13)

AJ Storr’s journey from St. John’s to the Badgers via the transfer portal has injected a fresh dose of athleticism and versatility into Wisconsin’s roster.

Standing at 6-foot-7, Storr showcased his talent last season, earning a well-deserved spot on the Big East’s all-freshman team.

While his overall scoring average stood at 8.8 points per game, what truly sets Storr apart is his shooting. With a 40.4% shooting percentage from beyond the arc, he adds a much-needed perimeter-scoring threat to the Badgers offensive arsenal, along with his ability to score in transition.

In a league where three-point shooting can often be the difference-maker, Storr’s presence on the court promises to keep opponents on their toes. His unique blend of size, athleticism, and scoring versatility makes him a potential game-changer for Wisconsin basketball.

Sophomore Shooting Guard Connor Essegian (No. 1)

Connor Essegian burst onto the college basketball scene last season, leaving a trail of excitement and high expectations among the Badgers faithful in his wake.

As a freshman, he accomplished something remarkable that only a few Badgers have achieved in the last 25 seasons – a double-digit scoring average. In a league where experience often wins out, his immediate impact and working his way into a starting role was noteworthy.

One particular aspect of Essegian’s game that demands attention is his proficiency from beyond the arc. He drained a remarkable 69 three-pointers during his debut season, setting a new record for Wisconsin basketball freshmen.

Connor Essegian’s scoring ability and rapid ascent in college basketball make him a core asset for the Wisconsin Badgers to build around.

As he continues to develop and adapt to the challenges of Big Ten competition, he remains a beacon of hope for the Wisconsin basketball team’s present and future. It’s hard to argue with his standing atop the list.
