The Wisconsin basketball program has lost another player to the transfer portal just days after an unceremonious exit from the NCAA Tournament.

Per a report by Verbal Commits, former walk-on guard Ross Candelino has entered his name into the transfer portal after two seasons with the Badgers.

This news comes shortly after UW saw sophomore Connor Essegian enter his name into the portal searching for a new home.

Wisconsin Basketball Loses Second Player to the Transfer Portal

Ross Candelino joined Wisconsin basketball as a walk-on in the 2022-23 season. Candelino elected to join the Badgers over his only other offer from American University. He was previously committed to American but decided to de-commit in favor of an opportunity at the Power Five level.

In his first year with the Badgers, Candelino saw time sparingly, appearing in five games. He logged points in his first appearance against South Dakota, going 2-for-2 from the field and finishing with four points.

After seeing limited opportunities in his freshman campaign, Candelino did not see the floor and used 2023 as a redshirt year.

Wisconsin basketball is now without two guards, but they have no shortage of help at that spot. Chucky Hepburn, Max Klesmit, John Blackwell, and Kamari McGee are all expected to be back next season, and incoming freshman Daniel Freitag will provide a boost to the rotation.

Best of luck to Candelino as he looks for a new opportunity.
