Speculation began as the 2022-23 season drew to a close on if Wahl would return, as he had another year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With his confirmation, the Badgers will retain one of their top contributors.
Last season, Wahl averaged 11.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. As one of the veterans, Wahl was an essential piece to the Wisconsin basketball program with the young talent on the team.
In his four years with the program, Wahl has averaged 7.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. He is coming off his best statistical year despite missing time with an injury.
Wahl will be the most experienced player on the roster for the 2023-24 season. His leadership will be vital as UW welcomes its 2023 recruiting class.
Now that one of Wisconsin’s offseason questions has been answered, there’s still plenty of work to do through the transfer portal and recruiting. It will be a long offseason, but Wisconsin has taken a step in the right direction with retaining Wahl for another year.
