Greg Gard and the Wisconsin basketball coaching staff have been after 2024 four-star forward Jackson McAndrew out of Minneapolis, Minnesota, for several years. The Badgers were among the first Power 5 programs to offer him a scholarship offer after their advanced camp.

According to the 247Sports recruiting rankings, McAndrew is the No. 89 overall prospect in the 2024 class, the No. 16 PF in the country, and the No. 1 player in Minnesota.

McAndrew announced a final four of Creighton, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, and Xavier — all receiving official visits from the 6-foot-9 stretch four. Wisconsin even got a late unofficial visit alongside 2024 commit and Howard Pulley teammate Daniel Freitag, with whom he’s close friends.

But after much time and consideration, that friendship wasn’t enough to land the top 100 national recruit in Madison.

In the end, Jackson McAndrew announced his commitment to the Creighton Blue Jays — who, quite frankly, are a perfect fit for his skill set.

McAndrew is a lethal shooting stretch four that can flat-out shoot the rock from anywhere on the floor with a quick, repeatable release and is among the best in the country, regardless of position.

Wisconsin basketball plays a similar brand of basketball as Creighton — but anyone who follows my work knows that the Blue Jays do it at a much faster pace. The chance to showcase himself in a more uptempo offense that translates to more shot attempts was too much to pass up.

For the Badgers, this is a tough blow. Five-star in-state guard Kon Knueppel is the last remaining player with a scholarship offer remaining on their board, and UW’s up against some blue-blood programs for his services.
