The Wisconsin Badgers basketball team is off to a great start this season with a 15-4 overall record and currently sits atop the Big Ten Conference with a 7-1 record. There’s a lot of excitement for the current season, but it’s hard not to think about the future of the program as well, especially with the way 2024 point guard Daniel Freitag is playing in his final high school season.

Wisconsin Basketball Signee Daniel Freitag Scores 2,000th Career Point

Freitag has had a prolific high school career. He started at Bloomington Jefferson High School before transferring to Breck School, a prep school in Golden Valley, Minnesota.

In Breck’s latest victory, Freitag scored his 2,000th career point in his impressive career.

The future Wisconsin basketball player has been a big part of his team’s success, helping lead the Mustangs to a 16-0 overall record. They are also 7-0 in the Independent Metro Athletic Conference, which includes some high-powered teams like Minnehaha Academy where Chet Holmgren played.

He recently played in the annual Wisconsin-Minnesota Border Battle when Breck took on Heritage Christian, winning 96-64 over the Patriots. In the game, Freitag recorded a double-double with 22 points and 10 assists.

In his senior season, Freitag ranks 41st in Minnesota in scoring, averaging 22.6 points per game. His future teammate, Jack Robison (Lakeville North), averages 24.9 points per game, putting him at 21st in the state.

The Minnesota pipeline has been good to the Wisconsin Badgers basketball program and it looks like it will continue to for the foreseeable future.
