2024 five-star in-state product Kon Knueppel has set an official visit date with the Wisconsin basketball program, according to a report from Mark Miller of WisSports.net.

Greg Gard and his staff will host Knueppel on September 12 in the Badgers final attempt to woo their prized target. It’s also worth noting that the Wisconsin Lutheran standout has officials lined up with Marquette, Alabama, Virginia, and Duke before Knueppel decides.

Listed at 6-foot-6, Knueppel is one of the top shooters in the entire country and averaged 22.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game, shooting 46.7% from beyond the arc on the EYBL circuit. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Knueppel is the No. 22 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class.

Wisconsin Basketball Could Make History in the 2024 Recruiting Cycle

Wisconsin basketball is in terrific standing with Kon Knueppel and has been after him for years, although I’ve been told the mutual interest in Duke and Virginia is very, very real.

Already holding commitments from four-star point guard Daniel Freitag and three-star wing Jack Robison, Knueppel would still be the crown jewel of the entire class. If Greg Gard can keep the talented shooting guard home, it would undoubtedly be the biggest recruiting victory of his head coaching tenure — and the most high-profile in-state win since Sam Dekker.

The competition for Knueppel is intimidating, but if Wisconsin can sell him on the hometown hero angle, it could quickly transform the program’s trajectory entirely. I’d put UW’s odds around 30% going off my gut — fingers crossed that Wisconsin basketball comes out on top.
