Greg Gard and the Wisconsin men’s basketball program welcomed a rising stretch forward in the 2025 recruiting class to the Kohl Center for their final home game of the season against Rutgers.

Jonah Funk, a 6-foot-10 forward from El Paso, Illinois, took in Madison for the first time after receiving an invite from assistant coach Dean Oliver to take an unofficial visit the night before.

“The visit was just how I’d want it to be,” Funk told Badgernotes. “I got to see how great the staff was, how great the team was, and how great the environment was. Wisconsin is truly the full package.”

Wisconsin Basketball Staff Plans to Continue Evaluating Noah Funk

Wisconsin basketball coaches are planning to bring in a sizable 2025 class and are in the early stages of expanding their recruiting board ahead of the AAU live evaluation periods.

Funk, the latest Badgers recruit of interest, currently holds just one division one offer from Eastern Illinois but has visited Wisconsin, Iowa, and Richmond and is actively hearing from Illinois and Creighton.

“Our relationship is really good, and I feel very comfortable with them,” Funk said of the Badgers staff. “They are a real family, and I can tell they can connect with their players very well.”

The El PasoGridley standout knows he needs to add weight but has a nice face-up game that would pair well in the Wisconsin basketball team’s free-flowing offense. Funk also has nice feel around the basket, improving footwork, and can push the ball a little in transition.

“The coaches were really encouraging and said they were going to be in contact with me throughout the upcoming AAU season and want me back on campus in June,” Funk said.

Currently, Wisconsin basketball has been conservative in extending scholarship offers to front-court prospects in this class, focusing mainly on EJ Walker, Kai Rogers, and Will Garlock.
