The Wisconsin Badgers basketball program has kicked off its 2023-24 regular season in impressive fashion, tallying a 9-3 record despite a brutal non-conference schedule that featured encounters with top-10 teams like Tennessee, Marquette, and Arizona.

It feels like many of the issues that plagued Greg Gard’s team last season are now in the rearview mirror, and they’ve found themselves ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 and look like a top contender in the Big Ten.

The Wisconsin Badgers, who own four wins over team’s rated in the Barttorvik top 60, are among just three Big Ten programs currently ranked in the AP top 25, holding the No. 23 spot, while Purdue and Illinois sit at No. 1 and No. 11, respectively.

Wisconsin Basketball Earns No. 3 Seed in Joe Lunardi’s Latest ESPN Bracketology Update.

Although March feels like a lifetime away, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi dropped his latest update, where he has the Wisconsin basketball program projected as a No. 3 seed in the most recent Bracketology forecast.

Lunardi’s seeding places the Wisconsin Badgers at No. 12. According to Lunardi’s predictions, they would face off against No. 14-seeded Samford in the NCAA tournament’s opening round.

Coach Gard and the Wisconsin basketball team resume Big Ten play on January 2 against the Iowa Hawkeyes, where the Badgers will begin their pursuit of a third Big Ten regular season championship in five seasons.
