Wisconsin quarterback Myles Burkett (16) is shown during the first quarter of their game Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wis. Wisconsin beat Illinois State 38-0.

After entering the portal the day the transfer window opened, former Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Myles Burkett has found a new football program to call home.

The Franklin, Wisconsin native took to social media to announce he would continue his playing career at the University at Albany.

Burkett will have three years of eligibility remaining with the Great Danes.

Burkett initially committed to the Wisconsin Badgers as a part of the 2022 recruiting class. In his senior year, Burkett led Franklin High School to a WIAA State Championship and was honored as the AP and Gatorade Wisconsin Player of the Year.

Coming out of high school, he was a three-star prospect, rated as the No. 759 player in the nation, the No. 43 QB, and the No. 8 player in Wisconsin, per the industry-generated composite rankings. The Badgers beat out offers from Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Miami (OH), and Northern Illinois for Burkett’s services.

As a true freshman, Burkett appeared in two games. He made his Badgers debut in the 2022 season opener against Illinois State, but he did not attempt a pass. He saw the field again in the final non-conference clash against New Mexico State, completing four of five pass attempts for 84 yards.

Burkett was buried in the depth chart during the 2023 season behind Tanner Mordecai and Braedyn Locke, and as a result, he did not see the field.

The former Badger will have the opportunity for immediate playing time with the Great Danes, as former UAlbany quarterback Reese Poffenbarger recently committed to Miami.

The Wisconsin football program will have Tyler Van Dyke, Braedyn Locke, Nick Evers, Mabrey Mettauer, and Cole LaCrue at quarterback this coming season.

Best of luck to Burkett in his next venture.
