Daniel Freitag, a top target of Wisconsin Badgers basketball head coach Greg Gard in the 2024 recruiting class, took to Twitter to make an announcement this afternoon.

Dual Sport Athlete Daniel Freitag Announces Wisconsin Football Recruiting Offer

Freitag announced a scholarship offer from the Wisconsin football coaching staff. The Minneapolis native is a dual-sport athlete who has garnered interest from both basketball and football programs at the next level. In January, he told Badger Notes that “playing both is also in the conversation.”

The six-foot-two-inches, 175-pound junior is the top 2024 recruit in Minnesota for both football and basketball, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Freitag is a three-star recruit at wide receiver and a four-star recruit at point guard. In the 2024 basketball recruiting class, Freitag is the seventh-ranked point guard and the 57th-ranked player overall.

Greg Gard has made Freitag a top priority in the 2024 class for Wisconsin Badgers basketball. Freitag first received a scholarship offer from Wisconsin in June of 2021. He previously said, “the Wisconsin staff [has] been great to me. Coach Gard and I are very close. I am also very close to Coach Krabbenhoft and the other UW assistants.”

Daniel Freitag Scholarship Offers

Wisconsin, Notre Dame, and Minnesota have extended scholarship offers to Freitag to play both football and basketball.

Baylor, Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska, and Virginia have extended basketball-only scholarship offers to Freitag.

Kansas State has previously offered Freitag a football-only scholarship.
