Wisconsin Football to Host a Blue Chip Recruit on Official Visit
Wisconsin football has a massive opportunity on the recruiting trail.
One of the most prominent areas the Wisconsin Badgers football team needs to improve on to close the recruiting gap with the top teams in the Big Ten is along the defensive line.
As it stands, the Badgers have two commits in the 2024 recruiting class: four-star defensive end Dillan Johnson and three-star end Hank Weber. But Wisconsin has a chance to make a favorable impression on a blue-chip talent they’d love to add in December when they host Ernest Willor Jr. on an official visit to Madison.
The 6-foot-3, 255-pound defensive end is rated as a four-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting cycle and is a top 120-ranked player in his class. He currently holds scholarship offers from 26 schools, most notably from Ohio State, Maryland, Penn State, Alabama, Cincinnati, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, Tennessee, and several others.

Defensive line coach Greg Scruggs has been the lead recruiter on Ernest Willor Jr. and is in hot pursuit of another addition to this recruiting class.
Wisconsin football will be aggressive in the transfer portal this offseason — but there isn’t a premier team in the country that isn’t in pursuit of upgrades on the defensive line — it’s the cornerstone of any good defense. Many big-time upgrades come via NIL paychecks — a world we don’t know they can compete in yet. So, the Badgers will need to bring in a plethora of bodies — develop them — and upgrade the unit organically.
Given the Badgers have only secured commitments from two four-star defensive linemen since 2016: Garrett Rand and Isaac Hamm — bringing someone like Willor aboard would be significant. Dillan Johnson cracked 247Sports top 150 in the latest update and would be the third player to earn that four-star mark. Given the
Wisconsin football team’s graduating senior class — early playing time is a recruiting pitch the Badgers certainly have to offer.
