Wisconsin football was reeling after back-to-back losses to Indiana and Northwestern. Following two losses to programs the Wisconsin Badgers expect to be better than, the outlook for the final two weeks of UW’s season was uncertain. Despite a slow start, the Badgers found a way to come away with an overtime victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

The 24-17 win was Wisconsin’s tenth straight victory over Nebraska. It also made the Badgers bowl-eligible. Fans took social media by storm with their reactions as Wisconsin got back in the win column.

Wisconsin Football Fans Bemoan Another Slow Start

Nebraska scored touchdowns on its first two drives of the game. Wisconsin spent much of the game trying to climb out of the early 14-0 hole. Although the Cornhuskers’ only other points on the day came from a field goal as time expired in regulation to force overtime, that initial deficit continued to rub some fans the wrong way following a Wisconsin Badgers win. Others were glad to see the team pull off the comeback.

Wisconsin Badgers Bowl-Bound Once Again

For the 22nd consecutive season, Wisconsin is going bowling. The Wisconsin Badgers clinched bowl eligibility with just one week to spare for the second successive season. Although the last two years have come on close calls, UW has the third-longest active bowl streak in the country, trailing Oklahoma and Georgia. Fans reacted mostly with sighs of relief, but others are still discouraged by the quality of the bowl game the Badgers will play in.

On the field, Wisconsin is in roughly the same position it was a season ago. A bowl-eligible 6-5 record heading into a game with Minnesota to reclaim the Axe. The Wisconsin Badgers have not necessarily taken a step back from last year, but the expectations set going into this season have disappointed some fans. Others are simply looking ahead to the future.
