Wisconsin Football RB Cracks Top 10 in Final Positional Rankings Update
One of the Wisconsin football program’s prized 2024 commits is among the best at his position.
Luke Fickell and the Wisconsin Badgers football put together a standout 2024 recruiting class in the staff’s first full cycle.
UW signed the No. 22 recruiting class in the nation and made program history by signing 11 four-star recruits in the cycle to reach the coveted 50% blue-chip ratio mark.
Recruiting services have turned the page to the 2025 cycle, but when rankings were all said and done, one of the Badgers signees cracked the top ten at their position.
Dilin Jones, a four-star RB out of Maryland, was one of Wisconsin’s highest-rated signees in the class, and he secured the No. 10 spot in the nation’s top running back ratings.
Wisconsin Football Signee Cracks Top 10 in Positional Rankings Update
According to the final 247Sports rankings, Jones finished as the No. 139 player in the nation, the No. 10 RB, and the No. 4 player in Maryland.
Jones was a sought-after running back in the 2024 cycle, as the Good Counsel High School standout tallied 31 total offers. Wisconsin was able to beat out notable programs, including Florida State, Michigan, Oregon, Penn State, Florida, South Carolina, Minnesota, and many others.
The 5-foot-11, 180-pound tailback was part of a three-man running back class that also included Darrion Dupree and Gideon Ituka. As a freshman, Jones will likely fall behind Chez Mellusi and Tawee Walker in the pecking order, but he’ll have a big opportunity in spring camp to push for snaps with Mellusi easing his way back in to the program.
Jones tallied 855 yards and 15 touchdowns on 108 carries in his senior campaign. The four-star tailback shined on film with his physicality, vision, and elusiveness, and it will be exciting to see how his game translates to the next level.
Jones came in as the Wisconsin football program’s second highest-rated signee behind offensive lineman Kevin Heywood, who finished in the top five in the final positional rankings.
