Wisconsin football returned home to take on Georgia Southern. In what started out as a scare for Wisconsin, they bounced back strong in the second half to get the win 35-14.

Here are three big things from Wisconsin’s victory.

Wisconsin Football Forces Multiple Turnovers

The Badger defense kept Wisconsin football in this game thanks to turnovers. Five, yes, count ‘em, five interceptions from this group. Including two from Hunter Wohler, who had an acrobatic one in the end zone. Not to mention a fumble when Georgia Southern was on the move in the 4th quarter.

With the offensive struggles early on, these turnovers which mostly came in Badger territory, saved this game for the Badgers. This group isn’t as solid as we’ve seen in past years, but if the turnovers keep coming this could be a great unit.

Wisconsin Football Came Out Running in the Second Half

This game reminded me a lot of the first week versus Buffalo. The offense was shaky in the first half, but rebounded nicely thanks to the run game in the second half. Leaning on Braelon Allen and Chez Mellusi will open up more opportunities for Tanner Mordecai and these weapons outside.

A nice mix of pounding the rock and short, quick throws was the key to scoring 28 points in the second half for Wisconsin football offense. It was nice to see the tight ends get involved as well.

Friday Night Lights

Get ready Badger fans, because next week Wisconsin football heads to Purdue for some Friday night action.

Wisconsin’s first Big Ten test will come on the road in a hostile environment. Here’s to hoping for a better start so they don’t have to rely on six turnovers again.
